Deer Management courses
Stalking School has direct access to over 30,000 acres land around the Spey valley for Deer Stalking and Deer Stalking training. All of these grounds hold a good population of deer both Red and Roe deer.
Introduction to Stalking One Day Course
One Day introduction course for the complete beginner, this course can be run for one or more persons. If you wish to join this course email us on info@stalkingschool.co.uk, we will contact you to discuss your requirements.

Module 1: Introduction to Deer Identification, Deer Biology, Ecology, Legislation and Meat Hygiene,
Module 2: Introduction to Rifle shooting, Safety, Stalking techniques and taking the shot.
Module 3: Move to the range for rifle handling and simulated stalk with live firing of rifles.
Module 4: Evening or afternoon outing (depending on what time of year it is) to stalk and shoot Roe deer.

- Min 40 Rounds of ammunition
- Hearing protection (can be supplied)

DSC Level 1 Self Study Two Day Course

Day One: revision, shooting practice.
Day Two: examination, Written and practical shooting tests.
This course places the focus on your personal development. Self study at home several weeks before coming to the deer stalking school will be required. We recommend that you do two hours each night for at least 10 days before your course starts.
The DSC 1 assessment tests knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Deer biology and ecology.
- Legislation.
- Stalking techniques and taking the shot.
- Deer identification.
- Safety.
- Large Game Meat Hygiene (LANTRA).

Four Day DSC Level 1 and DSC Level 2 Prep
Four Day DSC Level 1 and Level 2 Prep courses. This course combines the complete Two day level 1 and the One day Gralloch and Lardering course, then takes you on to prepare for the level 2 portfolio. This course intends to give a higher level of understanding what will be required of you for your portfolio, and some venison to take home. Day One, Revision, Shooting practice.

One Day level 2 Gralloch and Lardering
The one day Level 2 Gralloch and Lardering course will prepare you as part of your DSC Level 2 portfolio. This course aims to give a higher level of skill and understanding what will be required for Meat Hygiene (LANTRA) and for your DSC portfolio. Sporting Rifle Techniques and Ballistics
The Sporting Rifle and Ballistics courses are held twice a year, unless we have a lot of interest then we will contact the interested parties and hold additional courses. The course will cover, rifle maintenance, zeroing the scope, shooting in normal conditions on flat ground, shooting at targets down hill and uphill, high winds and rifle safety will complete the course. Butchery and Venison Craft
The Butchery and Venison Craft course will give you a fascinating experience in the butchery and preparation of venison. Being a truly hands on course, each student will have a Roe deer to butcher, prepare and turn in to quality cuts for the table and you get to take home what you have prepared.
